POSTER RECEPTION

18:00 – 19:30 Poster reception (located at the hall of the LaBRI)

EuroVAST 2010 is the first international symposium on visual analytics science and technology held in Europe. The goal of the symposium is to promote and advance the combination and integration of visualization and analytics methods for the purpose of problem solving in a variety of application domains (engineering, business, public policy, medicine, security, etc). EuroVAST will be held on June 8, 2010 in Bordeaux, France, co-located with the annual EuroVis 2010 Conference.

The EuroVAST program will feature a number of invited speakers from research and industry as well as a poster program. Full papers related to Visual Analytics can be submitted to the Visual Analytics track of the EuroVis conference. EuroVAST is sponsored by the European Coordination Action “VisMaster: Visual Analytics – Mastering the Information Age” in cooperation with EuroGraphics.

Visual Analytics is the science of analytical reasoning supported by the interactive visual interfaces, which requires interdisciplinary science integrating techniques from visualization and computer graphics, statistics and mathematics, data management and knowledge representation, data analysis and machine learning, cognitive and perceptual sciences, and more.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to

  • Visual representations and interaction techniques
  • Data management and knowledge representation
  • Data analysis and machine learning
  • Cognitive and perceptual aspects
  • Infrastructure and Evaluation
  • Applications

as far as they are related to visual analytics. Short paper submissions can be 4 to 6 pages of length. Submitted short papers should clearly relate to visual analytics problems and show the integration of data analysis and visualization.

Keynote Speakers are:

David Ebert (click),
Purdue University, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, West Lafayette, IN, USA
Director of PURVAC: Purdue University Visualization and Analytics Center

Jarke van Wijk (click),
Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, Netherlands

Frank van Ham (click),
IBM, France

Joe Parry (click),
i2, Great Britain,
Head of Research

Symposium Date: June 8, 2010
Poster Submission Deadline: March 1, 2010

Style-Files can be found here: egPublStyle-EuroVAST2010

Submission can be made here: https://cmt.research.microsoft.com/EVAST2010/

For the symposium we expect, beside the poster, a 5 minute short-presentation of the submitted work. A notebook will be available at the symposium.

We are looking forward to see you in Bordeaux!
